Editorial Reviews:

The Intuos3 tablet is perfect for photographers, designers, artists, illustrators, digital camera owners, high school and higher-education students. The patented, pressure-sensitive pen and hassle-free ambidextrous mouse (with no ball or optical parts) are both cordless and battery-free. The included, valuable software bundle (worth about $200) makes Intuos3 an exceptional value.

Summary: Excellent quaility
Comment: Most have already covered what a quality tablet this is. I am loving mine also. I've also replaced my daily mouse and mousepad to save space. The only gripe I have about the mouse is that with a normal mouse, I can have my arm/mouse at an angle, move "back" and the mouse will move down on the screen, however on this tablet, it would move sideways and down. Since there's no "eye" in the mouse, it only moves according to the location on the tablet. It takes some getting used to based on how I personally used a mouse, but it's no big deal.

Another thing to note is that the 6x8 pad autocalibrates to your monitor size for the pen so if you put the pen in the corner it will be at the corner of your screen, if you lift up and put it in the middle, it will be in the middle of the screen. The mouse however functions like a normal mouse...so you can lift and move it and the cursor will stay in the same place until you actually slide it over. This is my first tablet so that was an interesting peculiarity to me.

Also, I got a refurbished 6x8 intuos3 from adorama for half the price (well 169 free shipping no tax). It's refurbished by the factory and is packaged and looks exactly like it would brand new. You can't tell the diff except for the refurbished sticker on the box. At that price it's an absolute steal.

Summary: Best of breed
Comment: Wacom tablets rock and this is the best of their current lineup. The Graphire3 was a nice starter pen/tablet, but once you experience the Intuous3, you will see the difference for yourself. I have found it to be a very natural and comfortable device to use and its pen action to be smooth and precise. The pen itself is thicker than the Graphire3 with a nice grip and the tablet is sleek. Overall the quality of the product is unquestionably high; weight, balance, material surfaces are all top notch and the construction is completely solid. With the latest drivers installed, you have absolute control of the functions and behaviors of the device and you will enjoy a great experience with this product.

The only problem I have with this product, as with all Wacom products, is that it is expensive. It seems like a bit of a gouge at over $300, but I after having used it, I have to admit I would spend it all over again if I had to.

Last thing, the 6x8 size will be ideal for most people. They make much larger models but as you can read here and elsewhere, the problem with the larger sized tablets is that you find yourself working from your full arm rather than from your wrist. Traditional artists who have a lot of experience working on large media surfaces may not have a problem with that (so I recommend you take out a second mortgage and get the largest one), but for most people the 6x8 is the sweet spot that gives you great control using primarily wrist motion and only minimal (if any) strain if you work long hours drawing with it.

Beautiful product.

Comment: This is an excellent pen tablet, with a beautiful design, good fuctioning, and a viable cost! Those 1024 levels of pressure-sensitivity really gives you all the flexibility to draw and paint! Be ready to put your dreams on the screen!

Summary: Wacom Intruos3 6X8
Comment: Best Tool EVER! My wrist was beginning to hurt from using the mouse to draw on Illustrator, so I decided to invest in a pen tool. I did some research and found that Wacom had the most reliable feedback. I absolutely LOVE this tool. I use it whenever i am drawing on the computer and it feels like I'm drawing on with paper and pen. My hand no longer hurts from long hours of drawing! If you draw on the computer alot, you absolutely MUST get one of these!

Summary: High-end performance product!
Comment: I am primarily a painter, hoping to get into the digital aspect of illustration. I guess I may not be well-qualified to write a review of this item, as it is my first digital tablet. But I must say that I am thoroughly impressed. It was a bit spendy, even discounted, but now that I have one, I would definitely say it was well worth the price. I don't know how I ever got along without one.

I was worried that 6x8 would be a bit small, but it seems more than adequate for my needs so far. The Intuos 3 tablet is pressure-sensitive, measures the angle of your stylus to the surface, and includes the function buttons, scroll strip, and a mouse. My only disappointment is that there isn't an 'undo' button on the tablet for use with Corel Painter. Otherwise, aside from using 'Ctrl+Z', I would never have to use the keyboard.

I'm still psyched about this product. This is a great tablet for design students and illustrators!
